C.H. Robinson, One of the World’s Largest Logistics Platforms, Renews Whitehall Corporate Center Lease in a Show of Continued Satisfaction After 15 Years of Calling the Center “Home”

C.H. Robinson, one of the world’s largest logistics platforms, has renewed its Whitehall Corporate Center lease for nearly 12,000 square feet of office space through 2029. The shipping company and logistics broker, named by Fortune magazine this year as one of America’s Most Admired and Innovative Companies, has called Whitehall, a complex of six Class A suburban office buildings, home for 15 years.

The company’s renewed lease is yet another show of confidence in Whitehall, where C.H. Robinson, headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, first moved into its Charlotte branch in 2009 following a signed lease in December 2008 and a 6,035-square-foot construction project that resulted in space for its domestic shipping department. Nine years later, in 2018, the company nearly doubled its space in the complex by 5,908 square feet to accommodate its worldwide shipping department, resulting in a total square footage of 11,943.

“We love the location,” said Mike Ready, local C.H. Robinson General Manager, who assessed the Charlotte area as “very dynamic,” “vibrant,” and a place that “continues to grow.” “We love (Whitehall’s) access to the highways in Charlotte—I-85, I-485, and I-77,” Ready added, and he praised Whitehall’s proximity to Charlotte Douglas International Airport and its many amenities, including art installations and a free health club. He said the office complex is not “drab” but instead “alive.” And the best part? He said it’s the Whitehall building management team, calling the team great to work with, efficient, and accommodating.

The Whitehall location is the company’s main hub in the Carolinas, making it part of the 700-acre Whitehall master-planned community, which includes a technology park, corporate center, retail district, several residential communities, and a nature preserve. “We like to bring interviews into the office, and we like to host clients here as well,” said Ready, who praised Whitehall’s overall cachet and carefully manicured tree-lined driveway on the building approach. “The drive-in is impressive, and we’re proud of the building.” That includes not only its gleaming white exterior but its modern interior as well. The company’s offices fit its innovative profile, with the more recent addition a unique buildout featuring an open ceiling layout and exposed roof deck and ductwork for a more open, industrial look.

While talking about the recent lease renewal, Ready recalled how the Whitehall building management team “had everything planned out” and “moved everything” seamlessly when C.H. Robinson was expanding its office space in 2018. “What that says about Whitehall is (that) they’re flexible and they want to work with us,” Ready said, and that type of professionalism made renewing the building lease this year an easy call.
